In the US Army, Soldiers are divided into units by role. These units are Identified with a variety of Insignia including Unit Patches (worn on the Army Combat Uniform), CSIB (Combat Service Identification Badges, worn on the dress blue ASU.), and Unit Crests (or Distinctive Unit Insignia, Usually worn on a Flash, which is also assigned to the unit.)

Units sometimes have a motto that often represents their role in the United States Army.
